Two seconds ago, I was happily filling in my Kundalini 40 Day Yoga Challenge work book. The question which prompted this blog post was in the sacral chakra section and it was, “What’s holding you back from expressing your passion?” And the answer is something I’ve been working on for quite a while: my fear of putting myself out there.
I am so passionate about kinesiology and I love helping people with it but the thought of having my website go live has been stressing me a little/lot. At the core of this is the worry that people may ridicule or reject me. I’m well aware that kinesiology is not readily embraced by large sections of the community. This sits with me just fine. I also readily embrace freedom of speech and thought. But the thought of these people criticising me disturbs me on some level.
So how does fear of putting yourself out there apply to you? Are you holding back on following your dreams? Worried about embarking on a new relationship (that could be another post for me)?
Buddhism talks about change being the only certainty. We live in a world of flux and sometimes we flow and sometimes we resist change. The point with resistance is that it doesn’t really get us anywhere. We just freeze, fight or even flight and that isn’t much fun, is it?
Isn’t it better to say, “Okay this new change may well be a bit scary but I’m going to flow with it”? I also love this quote, “Trust in what you love, continue to do it and it will take you where you need to go.” And what a beautiful quote to accompany my website going live.
