In the last two weeks or so, I have been in a flurry of decluttering, clearing and cleaning, both our house and garden.  And it feels so good.  I wake up, I look after the kids with their home schooling, work on my business and clean, clear and declutter.

I’m not sure if this is related to the Spring weather we have been having in Melbourne lately (even though it’s still winter), extra time at home from being in our fifth month of COVID related lockdown or because I’m doing the deep personal work of releasing more of my personal crap.

I suspect it’s a combination of all three.  What I do know is that when you do healing and releasing for yourself, it is reflected in the world around you.  Likewise, if your external reality is rather messy, you’ll probably find that your internal reality reflects that.

Are you the type of person who finds it easy to release stuff around the house that you no longer need?  Sometimes I find it challenging but mostly I find it really easy.

Being a Virgo, I love neatness and for me if my home is neat and tidy I feel that I can breathe better. I actually enjoy the process of decluttering, clearing and cleaning.

What has challenged me over the last few years is all the little bits of my son’s Lego.  It used to be everywhere.  Hiding under the couch, little bits of it I looked.  But recently he’s giving it a spell.  I’m a bit sad to see this creative outlet of his go but I’m hoping he’ll get back to it.

Yesterday I realised that we no longer have a device to play DVDs.  I am now giving away most of our DVDs.  Not sure if anyone will want them but why hang on to stuff which no longer serves you?  I’m keeping a few favourite movies in case we get a new computer with a CD drive.

I’ve also been working a lot in our beloved garden.  I’ve been doing quite manually challenging jobs, all in the name of making life easier.  I see this as a great investment of time.  Plus the way I feel after a day in the garden is so good: grounded, at peace and happy.

So how is this reflected internally?  I’m feeling clear and sharp.  I’m also feeling really optimistic and joyful again.  It’s no secret that 2018 was a really difficult year for me when I lost both my mum and one of my best friends to cancer.  2019 was also tough because it involved me learning to live without the number one support person in my life.

But now, I can honestly say, I am feeling strong and clear again.  Hallelujah.

So what can you release today?  I promise you’ll feel better for doing so.  Could you give away some books that you’re never going to read?  Could you go through your wardrobe and sort out what no longer fits or suits you?

Whenever you clear something, you are creating more space for good to enter.  Maybe, it’s new clothes, maybe it’s a new partner.

Wishing you all the best with it.  Let me know if you notice the positive, flow on effects of releasing.  I certainly do.
